2025 Annual Report
As we approach the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, our collective promise to never forget is more important than ever. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum remains unwavering in its commitment to honoring the victims, recognizing the courage and kindness demonstrated in the face of unimaginable tragedy, and preserving the lessons and legacy of that day for the future.
Our 2025 annual report chronicles the multi-faceted ways in which we worked to ensure a new generation and an expanding community continue to understand the ongoing significance of 9/11. We are profoundly grateful to the 9/11 community members, supporters, 2.4 million Museum visitors and 11.3 million Memorial visitors who came to our site to remember, reflect, and learn.
We were privileged to lead the observance of the 33rd anniversary of the February 26, 1993 World Trade Center bombing, 23 years since the official end to Ground Zero rescue and recovery operations on May 30, and the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, welcoming 5,500 9/11 family members in person that day and another 200,000 online.
Our annual summer Institute for Educators reached a powerful milestone in July, with its first teacher participant born after 9/11. We expanded our free New Yorker admission program, New York First Sundays, welcoming nearly 9,000 New Yorkers for a complimentary opportunity to experience the Museum as a community. Drawing Meaning: Trauma and Children's Art After 9/11 opened in the spring of 2025, examining how young artists from around the world used art to heal themselves and others as they expressed complex feelings about the 9/11 attacks. Later in the fall, a new installation was dedicated, showcasing military memorials that honor the more than 7,000 U.S. service members killed and 50,000 wounded in Global War on Terror. We were also privileged to have been named one of North America's Top 150 rated experiences in the 2025 Arival Tour Review Spotlight Awards.
