A single, white rose is placed at a name etched on a bronze parapet of the Memorial. The dark parapet glistens with raindrops.

Birthday Roses

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum recognizes the birthdays of the men, women, and children whose names are inscribed on the 9/11 Memorial by placing a single white rose at each person’s name on his or her birthday.

The roses stand as a moving reminder of the very personal loss of human life on September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 while providing a special way to invite visitors from around the world to join us in honoring your loved ones. This simple and powerful remembrance began in 2013 after a volunteer suggested this tribute. You can learn more about the program on our MEMO blog.

If you are the family member of a victim and would like to receive a photo of your loved one’s rose, please submit your request through the form below. Photos are typically sent within 3 to 5 business days. If you have any questions about this program, please contact 911mmbirthdayroses@911memorial.org.
