Progress Continues, 9/11 Memorial on Track for 9/11 Anniversary Opening
The pace of construction at the World Trade Center site has accelerated through 2010, Julie Shapiro recaps for DNAinfo. One World Trade Center, previously known as the Freedom Tower, is 52 stories , Tower 4 is above street level and the 9/11 Memorial now has more than 120 trees. The survivor tree was the star among the other trees planted in December, returning to the delight of New York City Parks Department caretakers, 9/11 Memorial staff, and family members. Construction is accelerating, ready to meet the deadline for the memorial’s opening on Sept. 11 2011.
