Scenes from the Annual Salute to Service Week
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s annual Salute to Service week concluded this weekend with several special tributes and performances on the Memorial plaza and activities for families and children.
The five-day program included an unveiling of the maquette for the forthcoming WWI Memorial in Washington, D.C.; swearing-in and reenlistment ceremonies; and a visit from the “Battle of the Branches” hockey teams.
Like in years past, Team Red, White & Blue placed yellow roses in the names of those killed on 9/11 who served in the military. The 9/11 Memorial also hosted the closing ceremony of the 2018 Honor Ruck. Organized by UWVC and GoRuck, and led by Florent Groberg, Medal of Honor Recipient and Veterans Day Parade Grand Marshal, the ruck is a family-friendly march stopping at memorials throughout lower Manhattan.
Here are some images of the events captured throughout the week.
