Thanksgiving Message to the ‘Real Heroes’
Thanksgiving Message to the ‘Real Heroes’
The rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero were a nonstop operation for nine months. It took that time to remove about 1.8 million tons of material from the World Trade Center site.
Many tributes were created to honor the rescue and recovery workers toiling on the site. In late November 2001, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, a child created this picture at Trinity church several blocks from the WTC.
The drawing is part of the 9/11 Memorial Museum collection, courtesy of Trinity Wall Street.
