9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM ANNOUNCES NEW YORK FIRST MONDAYS
Beginning June 3, the 9/11 Memorial Museum will offer free admission exclusively to New Yorkers on the first Monday of each month.

New York, NY – As it marks ten years since the dedication of the 9/11 Memorial Museum, today, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum announces New York First Mondays, a free admission opportunity dedicated exclusively for New Yorkers. This new campaign was launched in an open letter from the organization’s next generation Visionary Network Leadership Council, whose members include the children of 9/11 victims or those killed by 9/11-related illness, veterans who were inspired to serve by the events of 9/11, survivors and lifelong New Yorkers.

Beginning June 3, this program provides New Yorkers a special opportunity to see the Museum with one another and to reconnect with the feeling of community and cohesion that blanketed our city and nation in the wake of 9/11.

“We have found strength and healing in the place where the world changed. The 9/11 Memorial Museum, located in the footprints of the Twin Towers tells not only the stories of those killed, but also of the resilience, purpose, and even hope that began to emerge the day after, on 9/12. The Museum affirms who we are as New Yorkers and as Americans,” say members of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum Visionary Network Leadership Council.

“In its first ten years of operation, the 9/11 Memorial Museum has welcomed 23 million visitors from all 50 states and more than 175 nations. New York First Mondays creates the space for New Yorkers to return to the World Trade Center site – alone or with family or a friend – and affirm the city’s spirit of community and compassion after 9/11,” says President and CEO Elizabeth L. Hillman.

All interested visitors should book their visit at 911memorial.org/firstmondays and be prepared to show a valid New York State ID upon Museum entry.

Admission is always free for 9/11 family members and individuals eligible for the WTC (World Trade Center) Health program. To reserve tickets for the first New York First Monday click here.

ABOUT THE 9/11 MEMORIAL & MUSEUM
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is the country’s principal institution concerned with exploring 9/11, documenting its impact, and examining its continuing significance. This mission is advanced through commemoration, education, and inspiration. Located on eight of the 16 acres of the World Trade Center site, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum remembers and honors the 2,938 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993. Through exhibitions, a wide variety of programs, and commemorative events, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum seeks to educate the public – particularly the 100 million Americans born since the attacks or those too young to remember – about the consequences of terrorism and its impact on individuals and communities. Through preserving and sharing stories of resilience, compassion, and courage, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum hopes to inspire individuals to build a more compassionate and secure world. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s programs are made possible, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
