PLEA DEAL ENTERED INTO BY 9/11 ATTACK PERPETRATORS IS STARK REMINDER
EDUCATING A NEW GENERATION ABOUT THE CONSEQUNCES OF TERRORISM IS TIMELIER THAN EVER

New York, NY – “The plea deal entered into by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other perpetrators of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and reactions from the families of those they killed are stark reminders that the consequences of 9/11 continue to unfold,” said 9/11 Memorial & Museum President and CEO Beth Hillman. “Nearly a quarter century later, we’re educating a new generation whose world is shaped by that fateful day and the response to its aftermath. Efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, to recognize the health effects suffered by tens of thousands who responded or survived, and to support the healing of those who served in defense of our nation are expanding over time. Through commemoration, education, and sharing inspiring stories of compassion, service, and unity, we will fulfill our promise to always remember, never forget.”
