A Year Later
A year has passed
Since my world was trashed
Since I ran for my life
Since I saw all the trouble and strife
The hand is still etched in my brain
But I can walk past clothier’s windowpanes
Men, women and children have died
But I have survived
I have been preserved
So that I can see life’s next curve
To a daughter my wife has given birth
A new life, the reason I’m on earth
I remember the child’s sign
“New WTC 2007”
What was on his mind?
What did he see rising into heaven?
Only if we can leave the hate behind
Can we move from this time
