The Spirit Lives On (A New Trilogy)

It’s been 226 years since this country was formed
226 years since FREEDOM was born
Thirteen small states dared to make a threat
‘Gainst the tyranny of an empire on which the sun had never set
Our FREEDOM was won
‘Cause we dared to stand as ONE
Our cry was “E Pluribus Unum”
And out of the many came ONE

After only 87 years had passed
It was feared that this nation would not last
A race which had been separated from the start
Wanted in our FREEDOM to take part
This was not agreed with by those in the South
From us they wanted out
From this ONE nation came three
As the South fought against the North
The Blacks found their own way to fight for the cause
Only when the war did end
Did our nation begin to mend
And then we dared to stand as ONE
Just as we had begun

And now they knock our buildings down with planes
Trying to besmirch our name
The terrorists can come
But they won’t make us run
‘Cause we will stand together as ONE
Blacks, Whites, Asians, Americans all
If we stand together as ONE we will not fall
North, South, East, West
We will fight as ONE and we will not rest
