Steel, Stars and Stripes is a polyptych sculpture with three sets of hinged panels. The third panels opened, titled Souls Ascending, symbolizes the departure of the spirits from ground zero. Floating panels with swirls of gold float into a constellation of infinite stars. This image is a detail of one of 55 painted aluminum plaques.
