In 1998 I was commissioned by a collector to create a drawing that showed the view from the North Shore of Staten Island looking into New York Harbor. The resulting image was the original From Silver Lake drawing. I chose the view from the intersection of Forest Avenue and Victory Boulevard ( Two of Staten Island's major thoroughfares). Later that same year I decided to create an original etching based on the  drawing. I had no idea at the time that it would assume a new identity following the tragedy of Sept. 11.
