Description

The canvas represents an aerial view of the terrorist attack of Manhattan.

It’s a black map of Manhattan made with real natural charcoal from his own fireplace.

The Borough of Manhattan and its grid is completely recovered by smoke made of real candle wax.

James Arax shows us in his painting the paths of the two flights before their impacts into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. He uses a strip of yellow fabric placed above the charcoal on the canvas.

The morning of Tuesday, September 11th, 2001 remains for ever a «Day of terror» as James wrote on the canvas (top right).

James wrote the timing of the 2 crashes on the painting and flight names.
