Description

James’s tribute to the first rescuers.

It symbolises the death of the rescuers blown away in the ashes and smokes.

For the background of the painting, James was inspired by the ashes from the volcanic eruption of Vesuvius which buried the city of Pompei and Herculaneum in 79 AD.
