Former Diplomat Farah Pandith and Foreign Affairs Editor Gideon Rose Discuss How to Stop Extremism
This week, diplomatic entrepreneur, foreign policy strategist, and former diplomat Farah Pandith sat down with Gideon Rose, editor of Foreign Affairs, to discuss her book, “How We Win: How Cutting-Edge Entrepreneurs, Political Visionaries, Enlightened Business Leaders, and Social Media Mavens Can Defeat the Extremist Threat.”
In a wide-ranging conversation, Pandith covered various strategies to stop the spread of extremism into local communities and how best to inoculate young people against extremist ideology.
In the clip below, Pandith discusses the precarious future for youth in the countries susceptible to extremism:
“A billion kids under the age of thirty who are all dealing with this constant, all day, every day angst, and with bad guys who are there, interested in that angst, and we’re not. That’s the problem that we’re facing because we don’t even know what is coming. Meaning, we don’t know how these kids are going to decide to live their identity out loud.”
