Thanks to generous support from American Express, the Museum’s conservation team, along with consulting conservators, imaging and preservation specialists, architects and engineers, have been working over the past two years to record the storied history of the slurry wall and scrutinize and document its materials and condition. This information will influence approaches to conservation treatment and the long-term preservation of the wall.

On the heels of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, considered diplomacy’s largest stage, the 9/11 Memorial Museum will host the public program “American Diplomacy in a Post-9/11 Era” on Monday, October 7, starting at 7 p.m.

Now on view in the 9/11 Memorial Museum’s memorial exhibition is Arkady Zaltsman’s architectural drawing donated to the Museum’s collection by his wife and daughter. 

Mets rookie sensation Pete Alonso donated his 9/11 tribute cleats and an autographed commemorative bat to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Tuesday. The first basemen wore the cleats during a game on the anniversary of the 18th Anniversary of the 2001 attacks.

Last week, former Acting CIA Directors John McLaughlin and Michael Morell and former CIA Senior Paramilitary Officer Phil Reilly participated in a public program at the 9/11 Memorial Museum about the CIA's response to the 9/11 attacks.

A plush-toy dinosaur and small, cuddly bear recently acquired by the 9/11 Memorial Museum serve as stand-ins for the two sisters who had been their affectionate caretakers: 8-year-old Zoe Falkenberg, and her 3-year-old sister, Dana Falkenberg. The girls were passengers aboard hijacked Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon.

While the events of September 11, 2001 will never leave the hearts of Americans, the aftermath continues to haunt those who dropped everything to search for survivors, recover remains and restore Ground Zero.

Former Central Intelligence Agency Acting Directors John McLaughlin and Michael Morell and former CIA Senior Paramilitary Officer Phil Reilly will discuss how the Agency was uniquely positioned to support policymakers and military operations in the crucial 15 days immediately following the attacks, as well as how 9/11 ushered in a new era of intelligence work.

Among the other objects that speak to the hobbies and interests of the victims of the September 11 attacks, a typewriter belonging to Yudhvir S. Jain harkens back to an era before smartphones and sleek laptops were ubiquitous.
