23rd Anniversary Commemoration

At the center of the mission of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum is the annual commemoration ceremony. Family members of 9/11 victims will once again gather on the Memorial plaza to read aloud the names of those killed in the 9/11 attacks and in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum leads the nation, and the world, in marking the anniversary of the day that changed our lives forever.

The 23rd anniversary commemoration ceremony will take place on the Memorial plaza and focus on an in-person reading of the names by family members. Throughout the ceremony, we will observe six moments of silence, acknowledging when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck and fell and the times of the attack on the Pentagon and the crash of Flight 93.

The ceremony is for victims’ family members. The Museum will also be open all day to family members. Instructions about how to make a Museum reservation will be included in the letter you receive in August. That letter will also include additional details on the anniversary commemoration and an official invitation to the ceremony on the Memorial plaza.
