Adaptation of the famous image adapted from photo of Father Judge's body being taken away. This strongly resembled many famous Deposition images in art history and was painted as a model for a large set of memorial images to be installed in the World Financial Center. My "string" technique, developed a few years earlier, resembled the pattern of ridges on the Trade Center and thought it an appropriate form to translate some of the memorable images of the event. The image painted on the ribbons is suspended away from the background which is the tonal base which helps the brain complete the image. This gives the effect of a ghostlike image floating in the air, like a memory.
