We must not forget, the true heroes of the day,
Fire, police, medical personnel and varied volunteers.

They freely gave their lives in deadly rescue missions,
That were doomed to fail under horrible conditions.

Then there were the heroes, who saved many lives,
They did so under peril of their very own life.

The families and the nation affirms the obligation,
Of these heroes-- who discharged duties without hesitation.
