Description

"Redefining Home" was made for an open call exhibition focusing on interpreting a sense of place. Since the horrific events of 9/11, I had wanted to create a sculpture, but could not decide how to approach the delicate subject and honor those who sacrificed so much. I was now provided the gateway to develop my idea. 9/11 not only redefined my sense of self, safety, and home, but also increased my sense of gratitude immensely

As a figurative artist, I chose the female form arising from a fort-like form, which symbolizes a protective barrier/defense presumed to be impermeable, but proven otherwise.
