I was a senior in high school when I painted this abstract. I had not taken any painting classes yet - I didn't start until college. I liked to read about art from ancient egyptian to modern, and I was very influenced by Mark Rothko at the time. I was also a big fan of the original Stark Trek series (and still am!). So, I combined those two influences and used basic acrylic colors right from the tube that seemed to mimic the uniform colors from the T.V. show with lots of water washed all over the canvas.
