GOLDEN OpportUNITY FOR UNITY (EYE LUV THE BIG APPLE) is a rotating sundial sculpture engineered to complete one 360 degree rotation every twenty-four hours ad infinitum. The centerpiece of the sculpture is composed of fourteen 6' tall metal stick-figurines painted in human flesh tones to symbolize the diversity of New York City, and by synecdoche, the entire human family. The centerpiece will stand approximately 26' tall and approximately 18' at its widest point and will perch on a marble-encased, watertight, precision clock-mechanism pedestal at the center of a 50' diameter fountain. The perimeter of the pedestal will jettison a spray of water toward the inner wall of the fountain's edge. The fountain's outer wall be 36" tall and 40" thick. The outer face of the wall will be encircled from top to bottom with chiseled 6" letters, with the words "EYE LUV THE BIG APPLE ' GOLDEN OpportUNITY FOR UNITY" in thirty-two languages.
