A tapestry worked silks on canvas. I cannot describe the shock and pure horror I witnessed on the TV news that day. After months of being unable to lose that image from my mind I had to do something. As an amateur needlework woman I just let the finished picture work itself without my having to think about the composition. Titled '911 The innocents' is my modern abstract interpretation of the events about to unfold. the two planes coming in, with one about to hit and the second in the troubled sky. The twin towers and between, in the background, it could be an oil rig, or the torch of freedom held high above the mangled girders the after math? in the foreground a single sapling tree: the simble of new life and hope.
