1
On a late summer's day,
By New York's Upper Bay,
When the sky was uncommonly clear,
Came the roar of a plane,
No one else could explain,
But Osama bin Laden, emir.

2
And the closer it flew,
The louder it grew,
Till commuters felt something was queer.
But how could they know,
What a terrible blow,
Would come from bin Laden, emir?

3
As that aeroplane banks,
With its fuel-laden tanks,
To a tower the pilot would steer.
In the building it came,
With a great burst of flame,
As intended bin Laden, emir.

4
In the smoke and the flames,
Workers punched in the names,
Of their loved ones on telephone gear,
Saying, "Darling, goodbye,
I am going to die,"
Victims, all, of bin Laden, emir.

5
Some ran for the roof,
In the absence of proof,
That a 'copter through smoke would appear,
But nary a chance,
Had those doomed occupants,
In the scheme of bin Laden, emir.

6
Down stairs without end,
Many had to descend,
To escape from the fire severe.
As they picked up their pace,
Others leaped into space,
Trapped aloft by bin Laden, emir.

7
As firemen sped,
Up the stairwells, the dead,
Seemed to fall to the front and the rear.
On site came the mayor,
Giving orders from there,
Knowing not of bin Laden, emir

8
In the next frantic hour,
Through the second twin tower,
Yet another jet plane would career,
With a fiery blast.
Neither tower could last,
As predicted bin Laden, emir.

9
In a high school near by,
Students started to cry,
And imagine their deaths might be near,
But all ventured forth,
Fleeing steadily north,
Their instructor: bin Laden, emir.

10
Then the terrified crowds,
Facing billowing clouds,
Saw the towers themselves disappear,
And, 'mid panic and screams,
Many bold rescue teams,
Vaporized by bin Laden, emir.

11
On that grim, fateful morn,
Two more aircraft forlorn,
In the plot to disseminate fear,
Struck a Pentagon wall,
In a farm field would fall,
Thanks, again, to bin Laden, emir.

12
What the mayor achieved,
When he joined the bereaved,
Praising heroes we'll always revere,
That New Yorkers could cope,
Never giving up hope,
And defying bin Laden, emir.

13
On the fourth solemn day,
In a public display,
From the smoldering pile to a cheer,
The President vowed,
To a soot-covered crowd,
He'd reply to bin Laden, emir.

14
Our generals would plan,
War in Afghanistan
Fighting Taliban there and not here.
We could not ignore,
They were far from our shore,
But allied with bin Laden, emir.

15
Our leaders then said,
To Iraq we must head,
For Saddam has a worrisome sneer,
And a nuclear bomb,
He could place in the palm,
Of Osama bin Laden, emir,

16
In West Pakistan,
We would hunt for the man,
Whose nefarious plot has no peer,
With drones in the air,
To uncover the lair,
Of Osama bin Laden, emir.

17
Till one night in May,
When the pres'dent could say,
What we long had been yearning to hear:
In a garrison town,
Navy SEALs had shot down,
One Osama bin Laden, emir.

18
Ground Zero will shine,
Once again, as a shrine,
To the people and things we hold dear,
Where once was charred earth,
There is now a rebirth,
A rebuke to bin Laden, emir.

19
The memorial pools,
Will draw children from schools,
With survivors and tourists each year,
For each shimmering pit,
Where a tower was hit,
Bears the stamp of bin Laden, emir.

20
We pray for the day,
There's an end to the fray,
Peace 'n' freedom for all on this sphere,
And justice for those,
Of our terrorist foes,
In the thrall of bin Laden, emir.

21
Let's finish this song,
By saluting the strong,
Survivors who must persevere.
Their loved ones are gone,
But the mem'ries live on,
Heaping shame on bin Laden, emir.
