Description

I am one of the first responders with the NYARNG at the World Trade Center. I am also an artist. For years I have tried to do work that did not reflect my time at the WTC, but as the 10th Anniversary approaches I felt that it is time to take an artistic approach to my feelings of that time I spent down there. Shortly after my time there I started working with paper cutting, which is a perfect medium to talk about time and the fragility of life. Combining my art with my life expressions I have created 2 works which I would like to submit to the upcoming art exhibit. Each work is created with mirror and tracing paper. The mirror paper allows the viewers to see themselves in the work, imagining there connection to the event, while the WTC buildings are made of tracing paper showing them as removed from our sight but still in our hearts. The works will be placed in a shadow box frame, letting the lights create shadows to give dimension to the 2D works. Please let me know if the work will be excepted in the exhibit and when and where they should be delivered, thanks for your time in this matter.
