"Firefighters are the true heroes for me. They are men of great courage, determination, and strength, who put their life on the line to save others. I paint super heroes from the comic of my youth but these men are REAL and I admire them for their bravery and fearlessness and I want to honor them with this piece. People have a negative reaction to skulls but in some cultures the skull is used as a symbol of fearlessness and divine justice."
