This provocative and emotional rendering was created from drawings of actual firefighters in my community. Lieutenant Pride and Medic Newman of Ladder Co. 29 wore their full gear and patiently posed as I created my drawings. I wanted to convey their sense of community and brotherhood in the smoky aftermath of the 911 tragedy.
