Like the phoenix that rose from the ashes,
High in the urban air,
New York in solidarity,
Has rebuilt what once lay bare.

By the edge of the Hudson River,
Under Manhattan’s blue sky,
Stands proud the one world trade center,
That fills the skyline on high.

A symbol of hope and resilience,
A symbol that fear has no part,
In a Nation united in tragedy,
In a Nation that touched the world’s heart.

The pools of reflection beneath it,
Where the water does ever flow free,
Resembling the tears that have fallen,
For an attack on humanity.

The names of 3000 remembered,
Inscribed in bronze, to endure,
Together in life, 10 years ago,
Reunited in death, once more.

A tribute to crews, who preserved life,
For the souls that were too young to die,
Take time to reflect and honour them,
May faith give you strength as you cry.

Neath the stars and the stripes up above you,
Place your hand on your heart and show,
The pride in your Nation, where peace has endured,
And dignity and freedom does grow.

Immortalised forever,
Their names in our hearts will remain,
Where the pools of the water flow freely,
May your sweet memories sustain.

Description

A memorial poem for all those who lost their lives. As long as we remember their legacy will live on in our hearts. God Bless America and all those who live in it. Your memorial has enabled people to pay their respects and to never forget. I hope with hand on your heart you will feel a sense of patriotism and comfort as you read my poem, which was written from the heart.
