Description

The imagery in Israel Rubinstein’s prolific body of artwork, is born from his imagination, and often surrealistic in its style. After the 9/11 tragedy befell his adopted home city, Mr. Rubinstein, a native of Petach-Tikvah, Israel, turned his attention to positive symbology that he felt embodied the spirit and resilience of the United States. In 2007, he created “The Twins’ Mother,” a 30 x 40” oil on canvas painting that depicts the Statue of Liberty in ethereal form, raising her torch high in one hand, and cradling the Twin Towers, gently ushering them back to an upright position, in the other. A lowered American flag grounds the artwork in its solemn subject matter, however the standing Twins and triumphant Lady Liberty declare that terrorism will not encumber the free world.
