I cannot really put into words the essence of this painting. I can only say how it came into being back in September 2013.
This painting is about life, love, repentance, forgiveness, and death.
The title “We Met On The Cross, Above The World, Under A Pink Moon, It Was Christmas Time, My Name Is Dismus, This Is My Story”. Is long because these words were on a loop in my head as I painted. I have no idea why. I do enjoy listening to Nick Drake’s, Pink Moon album the lyric’s “Pink Moon gonna get you all” maybe, maybe. The work started with the pink moon and I did use a C-D disc for a profile did I use the Pink Moon disc ?.
Perhaps Nick and Dismus sent a message who knows I do not know how or why a painting comes into existence. What I am sure of is the peace and calm this painting gave to me as I worked on it, and people who have seen it have said the same.
And it’s for that reason I am uploading it here at the 9/11 Memorial site. It may be a little hard to appreciate this painting its 47x16 inch and this is such a small file. But hopefully you will see and feel the paintings message. Warm Regards Steve
