Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper cuts the ribbon to open the Better Angels exhibit in Colorado Springs in September 2012. Also in the picture are the artist, Dawn Siebel, the Mayor and Fire Commissioner. Earlier that year, Colorado Springs had suffered a major wildfire that destroyed more than 300 homes. The town is home to the IAFF memorial for union firefighters, which would include all 343 men in the Better Angels paintings.
