Making a Difference, One Step at a Time
Ahead of the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum reimagined its annual 5K, an iconic event that historically brings together thousands of people each April in a shared act of remembrance, community, and inspiration. This year’s race — now a four-mile (4M) NYRR 9+1 qualifier offering guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon — took place in Central Park on Saturday, July 11. The new date — exactly two months from the anniversary — strengthened the connection between the event and the unprecedented response seen in the wake of the attacks. With each step taken, participants remembered those killed and honored the service of the courageous first responders and rescue and recovery workers who ran toward danger on 9/11 and in its aftermath, helping us recover and rebuild. As always, funds raised help keep the Memorial free and support our educational programs as we strive to ensure the world never forgets.
