A victim of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center was identified Thursday after the medical examiner’s office re-tested a DNA sample of human remains found during the 2001-2002 recovery efforts at Ground Zero, multiple media outlets reported.
The victim, Matthew David Yarnell, was 26 years old when he died. Yarnell was vice president of technology at Fiduciary Trust.
Yarnell is the 1,641st victim to be identified. Of the 2,753 victims associated with the WTC, 1,112, or 40 percent, have not been identified.
