In this vision the character has fallen into a dream while sleeping on the island of Manhatta. It is stormy and the island suddenly looks bulbous and colorful. The character (the descendant that travelled to live on and explore the island) is caught in a cycle of dependence; his hand on the genie, allowing him to leave his lamp, though the genie is himself partly controlling the character (as if he were a puppet). The Woolworth building lingers far downtown.
