The crash of the United Airlines' Flight 175 into the south tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 was an event broadcast live on television and watched by millions of unaware viewers around the world generating a tremendous shock.
10 years later, the brutality of the act and the drama of the images are still able to evoke the same feelings of pain and helplessness in the viewer.
Hence the origin of the thought that anyone who could have made anything to avoid the catastrophe, the second at least, would have done so.
Who if not a superhero? And from there, who is the contemporary superhero for Americans if not a myth of the Los Angeles Lakers?
"09/11" depicts an act of extreme sacrifice made by the contemporary hero on his body, interposed between the deadly weapon and its target, in the desperate effort to avoid a catastrophe.
Roberto Raisoni photographed the shot; Duilio Zaffaroni made art direction and also appears in the shot.
