This is my tribute to 911. This wooden Intarsia cut out took me 30 hrs. to complete.There are 90 pieces to it and eight wood types.Which are poplar,walnut,maple,aspen,hickory,oak,mahogany and aspen.The piece measures 36"x24" and a thickness of 2 1/2". I cut,shaped,sanded,finished and wood glued all the pieces to the 3/4" aspen backing. When,I picked out the backing.I always make sure that it has an awesome grain pattern,I use the wood grain for effects like clouds,water or highlights.The buildings are a different thickness also.This gives the effect of depth or distance.Lady Liberty is raised up on a 3/4" shim off the aspen backing.This was the only way,I could give the effect of distance from her to the skyline. This tribute was an awesome project to do.It was worth all the hard work to make it come to life.My only wish is"When people see it, they remember the cost of freedom and the people who gave their lives for it". Love our country cause its ours and no one can take it away from us.
