"Riding the Storm" is an expression of how we use our faith to overcome difficult situations in life. I used multiple layers of texture gel to give the canvas a rough, swirling, tactile surface, allowing the impression of the stretchers to come through, revealing the cross. Onto this surface, I've applied strokes of strong colors, adding to the feeling of turmoil in the piece, and three dove-esque "birds" to denote the Holy Trinity of Christianity, which is what gives us the ability to overcome our worldly troubles.
