    Statement of Work

My name is Ed Pettersen. I now reside in Chesterfield, VA but used to live in the New York/New Jersey area. In fact, I was living there on 9/11. Within a few weeks of the bombings, I wrote and recorded a song called "Ground Zero" which Don Imus played on his nationally syndicated radio show.

I felt led to distribute copies to every police precinct and firehouse in the five boroughs and I received some extremely moving "Thank You" letters in return. You see, my father and brother were both New York City police officers at one time so this catastrophe really "hit home" to me.

The inspiration for the song "Ground Zero" was an article in the N.Y. Daily News by Paul Colford. It told about the cross that was found in the wreckage formed by two steel beams from the towers. It was the only thing standing upright amidst the rubble and it had been formed in perfect symmetry. I have heard that the cross will be displayed at the WTC Memorial Museum. The main subject of my song is this cross and the inspiration it became to all of the workers at the site.
