    Statement of Work

“Imagine and then paint. I have no schedule…” Born and raised in Colombia, Jorge Lujan is a self-taught artist, always creating, searching and trying new techniques. His works demonstrate his intelligence and reflects one who paints with commitment and maturity.

In 2001, Lujan painted Memories. It was conceived and executed as he witnessed the horrors of the World Trade Center attacks evolve on television, while allowing his brushes, colors and talents to be a vessel of his emotions. The result is a magnificent canvas reflecting the pain and loss, heroism and patriotism of the September 11th attacks.

“My courage and unacceptance toward this infamy and pain are left plastered on this canvas, which beyond being a painting is more like a prayer for all those who disappeared on that dark day that will remain with us like a dreadful memory in the blue transparent sky of Manhattan.”

    Resume

    Jorge Lujan

    Born: Medellin, Colombia.

Jorge Lujan grew up in a large family, as the sixth child of twelve. He was known for his artistic traits throughout elementary and high school.
He has always been attracted by art books, comic books, films, and music, which led him into the world of art.

A self-taught artist, Lujan is always creating, searching, and trying new techniques such as pencil, colors, charcoal, acrylics, and oil. Always observing light, position, and composition of images has strengthened his work relating them to different times in history, costumes, and trends. (All of this influence can still be seen today).

Upon moving to Miami with his wife, Lujan was looking for a new horizon for painting. He focuses on his childhood and remembers all of the couples he had seen dancing in Medellin. He took his brush and palette and painted a couple dancing “Tango”. Shortly after, he meets Karen Asher, who is the director of Caesarea Gallery in Boca Raton. She shows a special interest for the “Tango” paintings and invites Lujan for his first solo exhibition.

Lujan is an intelligent artist who paints with commitment and maturity in his techniques. He loves to innovate and is always looking for new challenges in his paintings.
Over the past 20 years, Lujan has had many museum and gallery exhibitions in Europe, South America, and the United States. His works have been acquired by museums in Colombia and New York.
