    Statement of Work

    Nine Eleven

"World Trade Center" began to develop shortly after September 11, 2001. As a result of the acts of terrorism and destruction that occurred at the World Trade Center, there was a need to express this tragedy. It manifested in a desire to create images of what had happened.

Graphite pencil seemed like the natural medium of expression because the images were like sketches, a chalky, heavy glimpse into that smoke-filled day. Seemingly appropriate because the loss was "black and white," so cut and dried. It was difficult to digest other realities in the aftermath of September 11th. The gray areas came with the extremes of public opinion, thought, emotion and uncertainty.

"World Trade Center" will hopefully help us heal, remember, reflect and see the strength we have as a country. In this spirit, it is presented to you.
