Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a 70 year old American artist and a veteran, who grew up in the Los Angeles area during WWII. The impact of 9-11 affected me deeply, which inspired me to paint, over many years, the paintings included depicted in photographs. My “9-11 Collection” (entitled Try to Understand. Never Forget) includes the President with his one-time, incredible expression, when he addressed the nation about this tragedy. It burned itself into my memory, and his handling of this tragedy will be a powerful part of his legacy. I thought a portrait could give some credence to the horrific events depicted in the other paintings.

After painting the first painting, I believed that it should be seen and viewed by the public to remind them of this national tragedy, especially our younger generations. So I painted several more over a period of 5 years.

I do believe, however, that whoever takes a first or second look at these paintings will be reminded of the horrors of that infamous day in our history. I was there as it was televised during this heartbreaking experience, as were millions of my fellow Americans.
