    Artist's Statement

The three September 11, 2001 paintings were created within the first few days after the attacks. They were an outcome of my emotional reaction to the horror of terrorism, the entrapment of entire populations and the massive crushing of lives. The dark black gridwork in picture #2 represents the imprisonment of people in the WTC and the Pentagon. I spent a great deal of time cutting and tearing up pictures of people, furniture, lamps, personal belongings etc. which represent destruction and loss. In each of the other two paintings, there is a candle, symbol of light and hope for the future.

The three paintings are watercolor and collage, numbered to be place in that order. They are available in limited edition giclee on watercolor paper. 16 x 22, unframed.
