    Statement of Work

This whole project was the brainchild of Ms. Nayna Mehta, a graduate from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America. She has worked tirelessly along with her team to bring this project to fruition. Nayna has always been passionate about diamonds and jewelry. She has had over 30 years of experience in designing, producing and marketing jewelry. Born and raised amidst jewelers, her love of jewelry dates back to the age of 6 when she was caught stringing together necklaces made of glass and coral. It was after her marriage to Samir Mehta, a third generation diamond merchant himself, when she began to take a more keen interest in designing diamond jewelry. Having a penchant for artistic insights, she enrolled for the GIA, jewelry design program where she graduated from the Santa Monica campus in May 1995.

Although Nayna currently resides in India, she was deeply inspired by the way Americans united together in the aftermath of the incident.

Says Mehta: “While I was appalled at the inhumanity, I was amazed to see the entire nation resolutely take such a powerful stand. It did not matter what background you came from, people everywhere came together and only spoke of one issue - how to make the world a safer place.”

It was at that time she decided to create something that would capture this wonderful spirit of the American nation and decided to recreate the Twin Towers in diamonds and gold. In this way they would live “forever” in the hearts and minds of people. She believes that her creation represents the new American dream on a global scale hopes that people will appreciate the breadth of her statement.

Although Nayna was already an independent, self-sufficient designer, to recreate the Twin Towers she had to use a variety of techniques such as invisible setting and gold rolling. With her passion and her willingness for the cause, she took up the challenge. In the years that followed, she built a new manufacturing facility, invested in machinery, recruited additional staff and hired consultants to increase her productivity. Starting in early January 2006, she devoted herself entirely to this project.

Like any other venture, this was not without its share of obstacles, particularly difficulties with invisible setting techniques. Procuring the correct diamonds according to Nayna’s strict specifications of size, color and clarity was not easy. However all issues were systematically sorted out by Nayna and her team and the towers now stand secure and tall. Nayna has pledged to donate a certain percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the “Twin Towers” to a philanthropic cause.

Nayna has done a remarkable job in her endeavor to create an everlasting memory of the Twin Towers and the indomitable spirit of the nation. GOD bless America!
