    Statement of Work

    VICKIE MITCHELL

“My search for a means of expression is not directed towards new forms or theories. It is for a language which like the spoken is simultaneously individual and social; a language which allows me to communicate with an audience and with myself”

Chapel Hill resident artist Vickie Mitchell studied art and literature at the American University of Paris and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree cum laude from Concordia University in Montreal. She has exhibited extensively in Germany, Canada and the United States, including solo shows at the University of North Carolina, Duke University, the Chapel Hill Preservation Society, the Durham Arts Council, and the National Humanities Center. Ms. Mitchell was awarded a Durham Arts Council Emerging Artist Grant in 2003.
