    Statement of Work

George Bernard Shaw said, “You use a mirror of glass to see yourself, you use works of art to see your soul.”

Artists see things in a different light; always looking for the beauty that will fascinate and inspire them. The eyes are wide with wonder. The gaze always searches for that special scene or moment in time; always searching for that image of perfection which will light up a face and stir the heart and soul.

“As an artist I feel there is a tremendous satisfaction found in the creativity of any medium. Watercolor is as exciting as it challenging, because of the fluidity, translucency and freshness.”

Jayne Morgan searches for her moments in time and beauty, trying to capture that exceptional light and atmosphere. A walk down a beach can bring a smile and happiness to one’s inner being with feeling and sensations that make it so great to be alive in this time of progress and wonder.

“The subjects I return to most often are the Florida landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and oh those fascinating flowers. Masa paper, which I often use, offers a different and unique quality to my painting because of the exceptional texture one can design.”

She feels an immediate gratification with the completion of a work of art, even before the paint dries. It is ready to face the world and to bring some joy to it she hopes. It’s a comfort when she is told how her work can not only light up a room but someone’s day.

“I also enjoy the diversion of abstract, which allows for great freedom of expression.
The technique that I use for abstract gave me the inspiration to adapt it to my clothing by adding vibrant colors and a lot of sparkle. It turned out to be a lot of fun.”

Jayne finds a sense of accomplishment in every work of art she creates; it’s a feeling that never gets old. She appreciates the stories of clients and the compliments from others that have visited her works in galleries. Her heart can also be found inside that frame.

“There is no greater reward than to receive recognition for something you have created from a sheet of paper and imagination.”

She looks forward to whatever the future brings. Challenges are to be met head-on, and she can’t wait to get up in the morning and paint. The wild things are the beauties that make life worthwhile. Life passes much too rapidly for us not to stop and smell the flowers. Beauty cannot escape the soul. Beauty needs the soul. Beauty needs the soul as the soul craves exquisiteness.

“Every piece of art I create is part of me, and I hope they are as inviting as a warm sunset. It’s the inner soul which drives artists to our creations.”

Henry Ward Beicher: “Every artist dips his brush in his soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.”

    Resume

Growing up in South Florida, Jayne Morgan's environment from a young age featured seascapes, swaying sea grass, shell-filled shores, striped lighthouses and wild marshlands teeming with exotic flora, fauna, fish and birds.

The visual images and varying landscape of her home state have always been an influence on the artist. At a young age, her Mother encouraged her to nurture her passion for art and armed her with oils and canvas.

“As a native of Coral Gables, Florida, the area that surrounded me has always motivated me to paint. Its charm and splendor fascinated me. And with my father as a tailor and designer, and my mother as an artist, I was further pulled to create art.

Jayne studied art and fashion design formally at Miami Dade Collage. She initially made her livehood as a flight attendant and latter as a banker, but her paintbrushes were never far from her grasp. She continued to paint whenever the demands and fulltime employment permitted.

She relocated to Rainbow Springs, Florida in 1987, and immersed herself in the naturally beauty of the area.
Inspired by the other artists she encountered, she began her transition from oil to watercolor at Florida Community Collage and later studied under noted artisit Eloise Gardiner Giles.

“The transition from oil to watercolor was a much greater challenge than I believed it to be. Watercolor is unforgiving to one not skilled in the craft. My first paintings were a painful attempt and showed my experience. If it had not been for the artisit I studied under that helped me and her wonderful encouragement I might have given up.”

In 1992 Jayne and a partner opened “Golden Opportunities”, an art and jewelry boutique in the historical area of Dunnellon, Florida.

“The operation of the boutique and new demands gave me a valuable lesson in the marketing of art and other important business aspects.”

Jayne was selected to create a custom mural for the headquarters of a broadcast company. She also took some of her most popular subjects and developed hand-painting clothing for her boutique, which turned to be quite a popular item and a sold in resort towns in Florida.

Her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions including Homosassa State Park, Keyhole Gallery Cedar Key, The Shoppe Art Gallery Crystal River, McLean Art Festival, Wood Art Gallery Lecanto, Eastern Shores Art Gallery in Fairhope, Alabama and Nuance Gallery in Tampa.

In 2004, 2005 and 2007, Jayne was honored to be one of 12 artists nationwide to be chosen to have her art published in Ford Meter Box Company corporate calendar, which were distributed to more than 10,000 clients.

Her works have been received recognition for Best of Show Abstract,First Place, Floral, second place and many others. She has participated in IHMRS, New York 2006, Art Expo 2007, New York; Neo Con, Chicago; Art Expo 2007 in Las Vegas and Dallas Home and Gift Show 2008. Also, Jayne has had her works in Art Takes Time Square 2012, Art Takes Miami 2012 and The Story of the Creative, New York 2013.
