    Statement of Work

I have been a resident of Yonkers for the past 23 years. I was born
at West Point, grew up in Ardsley, NY and attended The School of
Visual Arts in Manhattan. I also studied stained glass design at
Rolph’s Stained Glass Studio in Mt. Vernon and design at the Parsons
    School in Manhattan.

I was intensely interested in art from my earliest years. As a high
school student I was awarded a blue ribbon for my sculpture entry in a
National Exhibition sponsored by Scholastic Magazine. My work was
    included in “America’s Talented Teenagers.” In 1989 I had a one-person
show in the Palisades Gallery at the Hudson River Museum. My work was
included in the Artist in the Marketplace series at the Bronx Museum.

At the School of Visual Arts, I majored in fine arts with a focus in sculpture.
I recently completed an 8 piece sculpture titled, “Meditation Circle”
installed at the new Yonkers Waterfront, commissioned by the City of
Yonkers. Inspired by the cryptic monoliths of Stonehenge and the slow
but steady revealing of the mysteries of the universe, I envisioned
the “Circle” as a place of peace and meditation.

I work in many mediums - steel sculpture, glass, stone, paint and
particularly found objects. I have a deep interest in the cosmos and
what lies beyond. This interest is reflected in some of my recent
    work.

My work has been shown in numerous galleries : Santa Fe, Westchester
County, New York City, New Jersey and Belgium. I am currently an
artist-member at the Upstream Gallery in Dobbs Ferry and The Blue Door
    Gallery in Yonkers.

From my Artist’s Statement: “I measure life, the passage of time, by
my artwork.” I go on to say that for as long as I can remember, art
and creating have been my life. That each piece I do is a new
experience, one that expands my vision and brings me closer to being
    all I can be.

My work is a reflection of my philosophical and social concerns; it is
an abstract expression of my vision of the world, the universe and
    society.
