My grandfather arrived at Ellis Island on July 19, 1909 and settled in Manhattan. My parents were raised in Chelsea. My first job as a teenager was a messenger in lower Manhattan (remember before faxes, pagers and i phones). My dad worked on the 106th floor of the South Tower for several years. The WTC has always been a part of my life. It is imbedded in my personal story as a New Yorker. Today, I work at the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Each and every day myself or a member of my team is asked about September 11th 2001. I share these photographs with you all. Whether you were 2 blocks away, 2 states away, 2 continents away. On September 11th 2001 and for months it felt as though we all were "out on the stoop" together. Our stories connect us all! Always share them.
