I am from Holland. I am 62 and visited the 9/11 memorial last month and was deeply moved. I am a recently retired teacher of English in The Netherlands. I bought one of the peartree symbols from the shop. My surname, Peereboom, translates as Peartree into English and many members of my family were victims of the Holocaust during World War II in Amsterdam. Some were friends with the Anne Frank family. Because of this background I am perhaps even more impressed. As a result I wrote a poem, which I am sending you hereby. Maybe you would like to use it, one way or another. Use it freely, because I got it free from heaven.
