    Statement of Work

My 9/11 Memorial contribution is a song that is titled: "The Day America Cried." It is a sad slow ballad with just keyboards and vocals telling the tale. Not only is the melody haunting...but the lyrics are quite
    profound!

In 2001, after the attack on 9/11, I composed the song after sitting in front of my TV for four days straight finally writing the song on; 9/15/2001. It was a labor of desperation to hopefully regain my sanity after watching so much tragedy on TV and shedding many tears...hence the title: "The Day America Cried." This was a very personal artistic statement that I had to make and so I did it.

Our local newspaper ran two stories on my quest to reach out to other people who I thought might relate to my song. The first story talked about the song itself. The second story was a little more important. Even though I am not a republican, I sent a copy of my song to First Lady, Laura Bush.
When I received a reply from The First Lady a number of months later on White House stationary..
I was thrilled! She thanked me profusely for writing and sending the song and even mentioned it by title. So, our local newspaper took the story and ran with it. I was also featured on channel 12 news on an evening broadcast that went very well and also mentioned the song and the letter from The First Lady. A small victory for myself and all the people of America who were so concerned.

It has been almost exactly 12 years since the attack but it still remains fresh every time I hear my song: "The Day America Cried." (c)9/15/2001 Published by: Almost Paradise Music(BMI). 2013.
