“I Will Remember” was written for my younger cousin Mark Hindy in the months after September 11th. Mark worked for Cantor Fitzgerald and was only 28 years old. There was something so indescribably special about Mark. He was a kid in a 6’4” body. His optimism and extremely contagious laughter made everyone want to be around him. We were all fortunate to know him if only for a short time.
I wanted him to know that I would never forget him and I know his family and friends share the same sentiment.

I recorded this song for his family but now I think it should be shared as a tribute. I am not a professional musician, but fortunately was introduced to Tracy Nicole Chapman (who was in the musical Wicked at the time) through a friend. She agreed to sing it for me and refused to accept payment. Tracy’s friend Michael Leonhart (currently in Steely Dan) recorded it for us. I am thankful to both of them for making it truly special.

I hope all who listen to it will think of Mark and all those who lost their lives on September 11th and after as a result of that tragic day. They will always be in our hearts.
