    Statement of Work

I spent my childhood in a small town in (former West-) Germany and all my life I´ve set myself two goals: becoming a photographer and living in the USA. Well, I achieved both: since 30 years I´m working as a photographer and artist -based in Munich/Germany - and in the 1990s my wife, a journalist, and me lived in Los Angeles. Due to family circumstances we had to go back to Munich.

But in my heart a wish stayed alive: working as a photographer in New York. My wife and me worked hard to make that real and we prepared a stay in the ultimate city of our dreams. September 9, 2001 destroyed our dreams, most of all: our hearts broke - but not because of us. We suffered with the people of New York and their devastating fate.

This year, in summer 2013, we travelled to New York, accompanied by our daughter. We wanted to show her the city, tell her stories about what happened, and we all went to the 9/11-memorial, which was so emotional - it´s impossible to describe this with words.

My daughter told me: create a picture, an art work, powerful and heartbreaking as well. When we were back home, I did and this is the result.

Look at my picture in full size - that makes it special and touching. I would love to donate it to the museum, the people of New York and all the people in the world who are connected by this nightmare.
